3rd times a charm

This past Thursday, I went in for my 3rd retwist (maintenance). I was surprised at how she was going to wash my hair because I was concerned about my twists coming loose...to my surprise (and hers), only the ones on the top and towards the middle of my head were completely loose. The others were semi-loced!! I can thank my other stylist for cutting my 'relaxed' hair so short, that I had no choice but to have the au'natural take over 2/3 of my head. This is good news for me; hopefully it won't be forever until all my of hair is officially loced for good!

I'm so excited..

enough

Days like today, I'm glad I took the time to step back and realize what's really important to me and my well-being. Allowing people to walk out of your life can be bitter-sweet. Sweet because the long-term affects are nothing but positive..sweet because everything happens for a reason...sweet because I know that I'm strong enough to survive -- alone. Bitter because those that choose to walk away are not always in parallel thought with you and why you see it as the best option. Therfore, with their inability to see the good side to this break-up, they simply make it HARD --giving a whole new meaning to the word ASSHOLE! Life is about living and learning. I guess it's my time to learn---again.

Cut him off - literally!

So on the way to work this morning (as I still try to manage through my Steve Harvey withdrawals), I'm listening to Tom Joyner and I hear "29yr old man with 21 children"! I literally screamed what the f*ck!!! Of course right away I knew that it had to be a story about "us"...*smh*. Then the next thing I thought about what who in the hell is stupid enough to sleep with a dude that has all these children with all these different women! Are they small-time retarded or what!?!? First of all, this whole situation screams IRRESPONSIBLE!! This dude was just going on raw-dog with any/every chick he could. I don't know about you, but d*mn if I want a dude like that in my life. I can handle being with a man with children from a previous relationship, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
The really sad part is that this sort of thing happens every single day in our culture. And it's really pathetic. Not only is it dangerous, but it shows a lack of respect for not only yourself and the women you choose to sleep with, but for the children that are being born into this mess. From the day of conception, they are doomed. God only knows if the mother has enough sense to see pre-natal care, let alone have a "plan" for this child's future.
How do you stop this type of behavior? If you can't stop it...well, I know I can't stop it, but what in the world is it going to take for fools like this to wake up and realize that this sh*t is ridiculous! It's 2009 and this is truly unacceptable.

Randomness isnt' a bad thing

I created this blog many moons ago with the hopes of starting an online journal. Between trying to juggle work, the kid, a "relationship" and school, the online journal concept took a backseat. I had hoped that this could be a way for me to reflect on the things going on in my life. The word COMPLICATED would be an understatement if I tried to describe it! In the matter of a few months, my life has been turned upside down. I've been thrown into a situation that was beyond my control and everyday I regret the decision that I made to become involved. What hurts the most is that its a situation that can't easily be discussed by those closest to me. I pray that it will all be over soon.

It's been close to 6months since I started transitioning my hair. A while ago, I messed around and fell victim to "lye" and now I'm attempting to reverse the damage. I've had micro-braids for about a month now. I don't believe I'll make it another month, so these will be coming out SOON! One of my girlfriends has kinky-twists, so I think that will be what I get done next. Hopefully they'll be much more manageable. Don't get me wrong, I love the micros, but it's not as "low maintenance" as I'd like right now. Plus after having ear-length hair for the last few months to now have hair down my back is quite uncomfortable! lol...I've never liked "weave"!! I hope to post some pics from the beginning of the year when I first cut my hair.

Why didn't someone tell me how hard it would be to raise a 12yr old son!!! Not only is he starting to become quite the young man, I think he's starting to like girls and I'm definitely NOT ready for that. His current girlfriend is Ebony. I swear I want to listen in on their phone conversations!!
